Network deployment and operations

About

I've spent 20 years in network operations, most of it leading teams. At Aerwave I built the NOC, circuit operations, and 24/7 national dispatch from the ground up and ran them as Director of Network Operations through the company's sale. Before that I spent 16 years at Sentinel, coming up from network analyst to running the Cook County NOC.

I build teams, write the playbook, and keep operations running smoothly.

I'm a Claude Certified Architect, and I use what I know from running operations to build AI tools that make the work easier.

By the numbers

  • Startup to sale

A critical player in taking Aerwave from startup to its 2026 acquisition

  • 0 to 24/7

Built the NOC, circuit operations, and dispatch from scratch

  • ~$1M/yr

    Cut from circuit spend

  • 20 years

Experience

  1. Aerwave

    Oct 2022 - Sep 2026

National managed connectivity platform for multifamily.

Colo site activations: Stood up our points of presence in 14 colocation data centers. Owned circuit delivery, cross connects, network install, and structured cabling through each turn-up.

    1. Director of Network Operations

      Jan 2024 - Sep 2026

      • Built the NOC and 24/7 national dispatch from the ground up, with a 24-hour SLA and same-day service: hired the team and wrote every procedure.
      • Wrote its incident management plan, a full ITIL 4 rewrite with a priority matrix, a major incident process, RACI, SLAs, post-incident reviews, and 8 runbooks.
      • Built customer service from scratch: the IVR, the ticketing platform, hiring, and training, then handed it off as the company scaled.
      • Held carriers to delivery dates, service quality, and cost. Cut circuit spend by consolidating carriers, renegotiating contracts, and removing redundant and orphaned circuits.
      • Ran a weekly KPI review on uptime, MTTR, and dispatch quality, and fed live defect data back into build standards so recurring faults were engineered out at install.
    2. Service Delivery Manager

      Oct 2022 - Jan 2024

      • Led the engineering and circuit delivery team, taking signed deals through engineering, circuit delivery, install, and launch.
      • Ran procurement for 12 months across hardware, switches, optics, cabling, and circuits. Tracked lead times and shortfalls against install dates.
      • Worked with PMO and construction partners so every site had a plan, an engineering path, and a clean handoff to operations, with launch QC as the gate before go-live.
  2. Sentinel Technologies

    2006 - Sep 2022

National managed services provider. Chicago, IL.

    1. Network Operations Center Manager

      Apr 2017 - Sep 2022

      • Led the Cook County NOC, owning uptime and incidents for hospital, correctional, and courthouse networks.
      • Ran it to enterprise MSP standard: ticketing, SLAs, capacity planning, incident command, and post-incident follow-through.
    2. Project Manager

      2013 - 2017

      • Delivered data center builds, migrations, greenfield deployments, and multi-site rollouts for large enterprise clients.
      • Led delivery for the customer on every engagement, owning scope, schedule, and escalation from kickoff through turnover.
      • Carried program management across related project portfolios in banking, healthcare, government, legal, and manufacturing.
    3. Network Engineering and Team Lead roles

      2006 - 2013

      • Moved from network engineering into team leadership.

What I do

Build and lead

I stand up teams and operations.

  • NOC from scratch
  • 24/7 national dispatch
  • Hiring and playbooks
  • Startup to sale

Network deployment

I get sites turned up and live.

  • Colo site turn-up
  • Carrier circuits
  • Cross connects and cabling
  • RMA

Material readiness

I make sure gear lands before the crew does.

  • Optics and hardware procurement
  • Lead-time tracking
  • Vendor management

Run and improve

I keep it running and fix what keeps breaking.

  • Incident management (ITIL 4)
  • Problem management to closure
  • Uptime and MTTR
  • Weekly KPIs

AI and certifications

AI and automation

  • Built a custom problem management program and circuit tracking tools, modeled on how a network operations team works every day.
  • I build production systems hands-on, with orchestration, automated evaluation, and regression testing on AWS serverless.
